| Richard Goodstone, is co-founder of Superfly Productions,
co-creators for the highly successful Bonnaroo Music & Arts
Festival and Vegoose Music Festival.
Since Superfly's inception in 1996 it has developed into a
full-service production company with unique strengths in concert
promotion, event production, management services and marketing
campaigns. With offices in New Orleans and New York, Superfly
has produced successful events throughout the United States;
Richard is based out of New York.
At Superfly, Richard oversees the company's financial and corporate
client divisions. He also develops ancillary revenue sources
for Superfly's landmark music events, overseeing all facets
of sponsorship, concessions, vendors, merchandise, VIP ticket
programs, travel packages and various other brand extensions
-- areas that he is well versed in. Following his 1995 graduation
from SUNY Albany School of Business, Richard became director
of operations at Sayings For You, Inc., an advertising specialties
firm in 1996. Later, he directed sales and operations for American
Pop, a multi-million dollar merchandising company specializing
in wholesale clothing and licensed products for major retail
chains and specialty stores for two years,1997-1999. Richard's
partners are Rick Farman, Jonathan Mayers and Kerry Black. Farman
handles festival operations and publicity, artist management,
company development and general management; Mayers' responsibilities
include booking talent and production, CD, DVD and digital download
products, venue relations, artist management and general management;
and Black oversees graphic design, advertising and marketing
and information technologies.
In its early stages Superfly promoted concerts primarily during
Jazzfest and Mardi Gras. Through this exposure it built a strong
niche in the New Orleans market. After Jazzfest 2001, Superfly
and Ashley Capps' AC Entertainment planted the seeds that led
to the Bonnaroo Music Festival in 2002.
Today, Bonnaroo and its eclectic lineup of artists, staged
in a bucolic setting in Tennessee, is the nation's largest music
and camping festival. It has won accolades from both the fans,
(selling over 80,000 tickets each year with no paid advertising),
the industry, and the press -- Rolling Stone named it "One
of the Fifty Moments to Change the History of Rock n Roll"
in 2004). It even has Dave Matthews, a performer at the festival
with his band, singing its praise: "I think it's really
the first festival in America to be this successful, if for
no other reason than celebrating music," Matthews said
during a backstage press conference. "People come to hang
out in the middle of nowhere to smell each other's funk and
listen to great eclectic music from all corners of the industry."
Among the wide range of artists who have graced the Bonnaroo
stages are Dave Matthews Band, Primus, Neil Young, Wilco, Ani
DiFranco, Doc Watson, Patti Smith, Camper Van Beethoven, Cracker,
Alison Krauss, Herbie Hancock, Gillian Welch, Yonder Mountain
String Band, Ween, Black Crowes, Mars Volta, David Byrne, Steve
Winwood, String Cheese Incident, Bob Dylan, Nellie McKay, Gomez,
Beth Orton, and countless others.
This past Halloween (2005), Superfly and AC Entertainment produced
the inaugural and hugely successful Vegoose Music Festival in
Las Vegas, Nev. More than 40,000 music fans descended on the
entertainment capital of the world for the main event at Sam
Boyd Stadium and various nighttime concerts that took place
throughout the city. Some of the performing artists included
Dave Matthews, Trey Anastasio, Jack Johnson, Arcade Fire, Beck,
String Cheese Incident, The Shins, Devendra Banhart, The Meters,
The Magic Numbers, Spoon, The Decemberists, Talib Kweli, moe,
and many others.
In addition to producing, Superfly manages the New Orleans-based
band Galactic, a major theater and club attraction throughout
the country, and the newly signed Steel Train. Superfly also
leverages its relationships and expertise in the industry to
work with corporate clients on a variety of private productions,
talent buying projects, licensing projects, and music marketing
initiatives.
